Faculty of Engineering and Life Sciences (FELS), UNISEL in collaboration with Kolej Universiti Islam Selangor (KUIS) as the main host and Syarikat Adakan Holdings Sdn. Bhd. will hold the Bengkel Rantai Nilai Inovasi Selangor 2021 (BERNAS 2021) starting from 4 December 2021 until 6 March 2022. BERNAS continues the Technology and Innovation Communication Camp 2020 (TICC). It is an initiative of Cultivating Science, Technology and Innovation in Selangor. This training program is mainly for final year students taking Final Year Project (FYP) in Information Technology and Multimedia, Business Management, Engineering, and Life Sciences, at KUIS and UNISEL in various faculties. A total of 50 participants were involved from KUIS and UNISEL, respectively. The implementation of this program has received approval from the Selangor State Treasury with a total approved allocation of RM225,440.00 as a direct grant.

The program objectives are to provide a basic understanding of the Innovation Value Chain and strengthen the ability of participants to correctly identify the problem their FYP tackles (Problem Identification) as well as secure support (buy-in) for the FYP ideas effectively from the listeners (Idea Championing). This understanding revolves around each participant’s Final Year Project, integrated with Paralanguage and Chemistry Communication skills. Such a combination will ensure effectiveness in gaining the support of the audience, especially investors

There are three programs will be conducted 100% online based on the SOP of the National Security Council (MKN). Program 1 is in the form of 6 series of seminars whose participation is open to the public, focusing on participants selected by KUIS and UNISEL from 4 December 2021 until 26 December 2021 on every Saturday/and Sunday. Participants will be exposed to the topics of the definition of Innovation (Correcting the Misperception), Innovation Value Chain Intellectual Property, Creative Phase, Operation Phase, and Connecting the Phases by the panelist from industry, KUIS, and UNISEL. Panels from UNISEL are Ts. Siti Birkha Mohd Ali (Senior Lecturer, FELS) and Dr. Hazeeq Hazwan Azman (Deputy Dean Academic, CFGS).

Programs 2 and 3 are in the form of a training program that allows participants to identify problems to be solved, formulate solution ideas that stakeholders will accept, and come up with ideas effectively in obtaining resources to realize the idea. Training sessions were conducted with mentors provided and worked on by the academic-industry coalition. Program 2 and 3 will use a combination of the following methods:

Online lectures

● Active learning with technical contextual activities

● Flipped-learning.

Online discussion with mentor.

● Case studies based on participants ’Final Year Projects

● Industry -based assessment

● Formative assessment (PDP) and summative (delivery assessment)

Therefore UNISEL, KUIS, and the industry are confident that we will be able to mobilize energy and make this program a success towards strengthening the Innovation Value Chain in the state of Selangor in particular.
