On 12th
November 2024, the Faculty of Engineering and Life Sciences (FELS), in
collaboration with HISTOCENTER, successfully organized the Basic
Histology Workshop, part of the Short Course Series in Aquatic
Biotechnology Laboratory. This workshop focused on fundamental techniques in
histology, an essential field for understanding tissue structure and function,
and its applications in diagnosis, research, and biotechnology advancements.
The workshop
began with an introductory session by Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Siti Hasmah binti
Mohtar, followed by theoretical and practical sessions conducted by Mr.
Amirul Rahman, a representative from HISTOCENTER. Participants had the
opportunity to acquire various essential skills, including:
- Tissue processing,
- Tissue embedding and sectioning, and
- Slide staining using advanced Leica
equipment.
The objective
of this workshop was to equip participants with both theoretical knowledge and
practical skills in histology techniques, while also enhancing their
understanding of the importance of high-quality technology in histological
research.
May this program leave a positive impact on participants and contribute to the growth of knowledge in biotechnology and life sciences at FELS.
